Vespolina

Vespolina is a red grape variety that is planted in Piedmont, where it seems to have originated, in the vicinity of Gattinara. DNA-profiling attests to a kinship with Nebbiolo, with which it is occasionally blended. Also found in Lombardy, it is called Ughetta in Oltrepo Pavese. No etymological connection with either wasps or motor-scooters...
