Late ripening and known to be very vigorous, the Garganega grape makes up 70% to 100% of the well known Soave whites. It's blending partners are there Trebbiano de Soave and Chardonnay. When yields are kept in check the variety produces lovely notes of almond, spice and lemon with a tangy mouth feel and good acidity.
In Sicily the grape is gown and known under name of Grecanico Dorato. Other regions that grow the variety are Umbria und Friuli.
