Stephane Orieux - Domaine de la Bregeonnette
Stephane Orieux Folle Blanch - Gros-Plant AOC 2020
A lesser known grape from the region of Muscadet but one that certainly deserves more recognition. Folle Blanche (also called Gros-Plant) is best known as the key varietal in Cognac but when paid proper attention to is a high toned, racy white wine that shows it's bright high acidity and minerality at a light 11.5% alcohol. This rendition from the famed Domaine de Bregeonnette, one of the pioneers of organic farming in Muscadet, grows on clay-loam and mica-schist soils and is 100% hand-harvested. The wine sees no oak and spends 6 months on the lees. Fresh lemon lime notes and lots of thirst quenching salinity.
