Founded in 2000, Weingut Taschlerhof is a small family estate in the alpine town of Brixen of the Alto Adige region of northern Italy just south of the Austrian border. Winemaker/owner Peter Wachtler farms his vineyards organically and practices artisanal methods of cultivation, including careful Guyot pruning. He works with clonal selections Sylvaner, Kerner, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer and produces only single variety white wines. The Taschlerhof vines are planted on high altitude, steeply sloped, terraced vineyards. Wachtler employs minimal intervention in his vinification. The Sylvaner is a perfect example of a slightly savory dry white versatile wine.
