Rotburger from the Hallebuhl vineyard, the highest peak east of Lake Neusiedl. Pepi Umathum owns approximately 12 hectares of this historic site, once called Holy hill and revered by the Celts for its underground water supply and the elderberries growing wild there. His parcel runs North-East to South-West and the soil is iron and magnesium rich. It is always a very fine and elegant wine that benefits immensely from the minerality in the soil and the higher elevation. In 2019, a vintage with good acidity, it is redolent of raspberries, cherries and lingering notes of chocolate with a long refined finish.
