La Jara
In an area stretching from the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills to the river Piave, La Jara farms 50 hectares of vineyards and farms them according to organic principles.
The estate is in the immediate vicinity of "Grave di Papadopoli", a land mass that was formed when the river Piave flooded in 1882.
Here white limestone – gravel originating from the river Piave – absorbs heat during the day, then slowly releases it at night.
These stones, referred to as "Jara" in local dialect, not only gave the estate its name but also lend a fresh varietal scent, minerality and elegance to La Jara Prosecco.
The La Jara estate is owned by the Marion family, who bought the land in 1891, just a few years after the fortuitous flood. Since 1999 Massimo Marion and his brother Paolo run the farm.
The grapes are pressed very lightly and wines are produced using the Charmant method. Great attention is given to keeping bubbles small and elegant.
The winery is certified organic by ICEA (Institute for Ethics and Environmental Certification), and La Jara produces a variety of sparkling wines, most notably the wine we import, with is a DOC Prosecco Treviso.
