Homonna Domaine Furmint + Harslevelu 2017
The Furmint – Hárslevelű blend makes up the majority of his dry wine production. The grapes are coming from several different sites (Határi, Peres, Csáky), with vulcanic subsoil (rhyolite, caoline). The average age of the vineyards are around 40-80 years. The blend is made up of 80% Furmint and 20% Hárslevelű. Furmint gives the backbone of acidity and responsible for the strict linear structure of the wine, while Hárslevelű brings some softer character to the blend and all the floral and honey like aromas on the nose. The vinification is fairly straightforward and simple. The de-stemmed and crushed grapes were pressed very gently in an old fashioned basket press, then fermented spontaneously in used 225 and 500 liter barrels. The wine is kept on the fine lees till bottling which took place in the middle of August. The Homonna „Domaine” wine stands for Attilla’s interpretation of its origin through the native varietals of Furmint and Hárslevelű. Very serious wine, yet already in its youth carries some drinking pleasure. White fruit and flower aromas are dominating the nose. There is also a hint of waxiness, which is not uncommon to the Homonna wines. On the palate it is packed with juicy white fruit, plenty but balanced acidity which lends freshness and lenght to the wine. The unique, not uniform taste profile is the undeniableproof of authenticity and identity.
