Zantho

Zantho wines strife to deliver highest value for classic Austrian wines. Located in Andau, close to the Hungarian border in Burgenland, Zantho has acreage and long-standing contracts with the farmers of the region that allows them to deliver consistency even in lesser vintages. Only the best berries from selected from their supplying growers. The approach to winemaking, carried by famed winemaker Josef Umathum and Josef Peck, is to produce wines from autochthonous Austrian varieties employing traditional Austrian methods.

The objective is the production of high-quality wines made from indigenous grapes in harmony with their environment.

The unique Pannonian climate of the region together with the austere, iron-rich gravelly soils offer perfect conditions for the production of high-quality wines. Juicy Zweigelt, elegant Sankt Laurent, and the finely spiced Blaufränkisch build the center of Zantho's production. Good years will also allow for Reserve bottlings of Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent.

Zantho further produces whites from Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat, all of which are fresh wines from steel tank only, as well as sweet wines ranging from Ice Wine to Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. In all a range of wines that promotes Austrian varieties and classic winemaking at a student's budget.
