Straka Blaufrankisch Rechnitz 2019
$ 32.50
Straka's estate reserve Blaufrankisch from organically farmed grapes speaks to the rare geological site of their village of Rechnitz. Rechnitz sits 360 m above sea level on the slopes of the Geschriebenstein, the highest mountain in the Burgenland. The vineyards climb as high as 500m and are known for their unique combination of crystalline schist and magmatic deposits that can only be found in 3 other places worldwide. It is a very windy and dry area that cools off considerably at night resulting in great phenolics and balanced wines.
The Blaufrankisch is fermented in wooden vat and aged in large oak barrel. Fine aroma of red berries and cherry fruit. Juicy, with a fine texture on the finish. It has a very finely balanced acid structure with lovely bright cherry notes. Mineral and lively, with great aging potential.
