Kolfok High Diving Horses Blaufrankisch 2021
$ 49.50
Playfully named after the sport of High Diving Horses, which actually existed until the 1970s, this is a Blaufrankisch that defies convention and expectation. Organically farmed with minimal sulphur additions and native yeast fermentation, the grapes come from the Hussi vineyard, which was planted in the 1960s. At 350 m above sea level, the altitude combined with limestone soils, large used oak barrels, and partial whole-cluster fermentation, exhibits a freshness and verve more akin to Pinot Noir than to the darker, meatier side of the grape. Dusky, herbal and savory, with black and red berry notes. A bright, lively, wine perfect for an aperitif or accompanying a meal.
