A seductive wine, well-structured, with incredibly fine tannins from a master of Blaufrankisch. Roland Vellich believes Blaufrankisch has the capacity to stun with elegance, Burgenland's answer to Grand Cru Burgundy and the Lutzmannsburg delivers every time. A mix of 80-100-year-old Blaufrankisch vines from Roland's sites atop the Lutzmannsberg plateau, the ancient weathered remains of a volcano. These grapes represent the full mix of soil types found on the plateau: iron-rich clay and sand over limestone, producing a wine of immense complexity and elegance. This is a densely packed, layered version of Blaufrankisch, well structured and certainly not opulent, but all in perfect balance. A wine that may be enjoyed for a very long time.
