Since 2019 Roland Vellich the master of Blaufrankisch has taken a new approach to the his prized bottlings of the Lutzmannsberg plateau creating 3 separate bottlings that show the individual terroirs of the remains of a volcano and its varied soils. The Maissner bottling comes from vines planted in 1906 and 1930 in heavy clay with significant iron in the soil. The wine is juicy and bright with high-toned aromatics and silky long tannins. Another stellar example of his spectacular take on Blaufrankisch and the unique soils of the Lutzmannsberg.
