One of the Batardiere's newer bottlings, these younger vines are planted just east of Rablay-sur-Layon. Grand Clos grows on deeply eroded schist — decomposed, crumbling, soil that results in a precise, mineral driven wine. Biodynamically farmed, spontaneously fermented in stainless, and finished in used foudre, it arrives at just 10.1% with chiseled tension, stone fruit, and a quiet presence. Less than 20ppm sulphur added.
